Update: Results Are In on This Morning's OBD Diagnostics Test on the Toyota….

Well, a few hours have passed and the results are in on the OBD diagnostics test & Auto Repair Inspection on the client’s 2008 Toyota Highlander from earlier this morning. The recommended ‘fix’ David identified is quite simple.  In this case he received a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) of P0442 after scanning the Toyota’s system.  After that he inspected the EVAP system & checked the vapor hoses for cuts or holes & was unable to find anything.  These findings moved his attention to the vehicle’s gas cap….  Once he inspected the gas cap he discovered that the cap itself was cracked, offline, non-conformed &  improperly affixed.  Thus, a new gas cap was purchased & reinstalled & then David cleared the DTC codes.  He also instructed the client to pay attention to the dash to make sure the ‘check engine’ light doesn’t come back on; especially after driving the vehicle for 15 to 20 miles.
We often run into clients whose vehicles render simple diagnostic & inspection results, in which the fix is simple.  We’re just glad that we can help out our clients get back on the road safely & save them some money as well!!
